Education debate in Washington D.C. September 21, 2000

Heavy-hitting advocates on both sides of the school choice fence will square off in a debate sponsored by the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution at the Martin Luther King Memorial Library in Washington, D.C., Sept. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Participants include:

Rose Blassingame – school voucher activist
Sandra Bond – Principal of Lafayette Elementary School
Willie Breazell – ex-President of Colorado Springs, CO NAACP chapter
Jeffrey I. Johnson – National Assistant Director of Programs for NAACP
William Lockridge – Vice President of Washington, D.C. School Board
Virginia Walden – Executive Director of D.C. Parents for School Choice
Moderator Judlyne Lilly – WTOP AM Anchor

"This will be the first in a series of debates on school choice," says Gregory Fossedal, Chairman of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution. "The time is now for the facts on education reform, and the nation's capital is the perfect place for a debate on this topic."
