A Teachers' Petition:
Supporting School Choice
See who has signed up!

In education policy, the rule is: When your arguments are weak, pound your opponent.
School voucher opponents do just that. They routinely pummel opponents with emotional rhetoric, sometimes at the expense of consistency or even honesty.

Independent Teacher Groups
Little attention has been given to the independent groups. At the state level three of them, in Georgia, Texas and Missouri, are larger than the affiliates of either the NEA or AFT. David W. Kirkpatrick reports on how one of them may top 100,000 members this year.

Education should be for children, not the system, and that's a message too many educators have forgotten. In the wake of Judge Smith's ruling, one Principal at a school in danger of failing two years in a row exulted "Finally, the laws are in favor of schools."
